We live in a society where an individual’s originality is mocked as ‘weird’, instead of encouraged as creative.

We live in a society where idealists are ridiculed as useless dreamers with no sense of action, forgetting entirely that imagination and big dreams are often the root of invention and success.

We live in a society where it’s far, far more common to have a relationship for the main purpose of physical gratification, rather than strong emotions, or mutual trust.

We live in a society desensitized to the violence running rampant in the world. Desensitized to the foreign brutalities happening in the last couple decades, virtually equal to the horrors of the world wars though far less acknowledged than them.

We live in a society governed by rules and regulations, as opposed to morality. A society where, due to procedural technicalities, a criminal may walk free of their deserved prosecution.

Society will need to face consequences of its own actions, whether that be sooner, whether that be later. Many years from now, perhaps a child’s whimsical creativity will be stamped out even earlier than today, being suffocated instead with the need to be molded into living machines, suitable for a reality ruled by profit and greed. Perhaps someday,  the countries in dire need of humanity’s goodness today will have been all but finished off, a page in history in place about how we could have stopped it, but didn’t; rules and regulations originally intended to aid are now obstructions that stop any such act.

All I know is that great minds, and the passion of great minds, are slowly but surely disappearing. There may never be another Einstein, nor a Mozart, nor a Picasso. Just thousands upon thousands of students manufactured with the same demanded abilities. The rest will be tossed aside as defective, same as any factory.

All I know is that someday, children will sit in their classroom, learning about our era with the same condescension with which we study historic human errors today.

But what does it matter? Resources are available, money is being made, power remains in the hands of those who seized it first, third world issues do not touch us.

So whatever.
